Hi, we’re Natalia and Matt, a photography and videography duo who have captured weddings at the Toronto Hunt Club. Our familiarity with the venue allows us to plan portraits efficiently, adjust quickly to wind and changing light near the bluffs, and keep timelines relaxed because everything is so close together. For our couples, that means a guided, stress-free experience and natural, timeless photos.

The Toronto Hunt Club is a historic private club located on the Scarborough Bluffs, overlooking Lake Ontario. Founded in the 1800s, the venue blends classic architecture, sweeping lake views, and manicured grounds, creating a setting that feels elegant, private, and peaceful despite being within Toronto.
Choosing the right venue shapes not only how your wedding looks, but how the entire day flows. Our goal with this guide is to share firsthand experience photographing here so you can make a confident, informed decision.
Weddings may require membership so it’s worth confirming this directly with the venue during planning.

Toronto Hunt Club is well suited for medium-sized weddings and elegant celebrations.
The main dining room accommodates approximately up to 180 guests, depending on layout and event style.
One of the biggest advantages of this venue is how close everything is. There’s plenty of space between ceremony and reception areas, but transitions are short and easy, which keeps the timeline smooth and relaxed.

The ceremony lawn sits high above Lake Ontario, creating an incredible natural backdrop. The long walk toward the ceremony, with the clubhouse behind and the lake in view, makes for a beautiful and emotional entrance.
The clubhouse itself has a timeless feel, with large windows, classic details, and a warm, refined atmosphere that photographs beautifully in any season.
One of the reasons timelines work so well here is that ceremonies, portraits, cocktail hour, and receptions can all happen on the same property. That means less travel, less stress, and more time enjoying the day.
Getting ready can also take place on-site, which helps keep the morning calm and organized. The bride typically prepares upstairs, where there are several rooms including a private bridal suite with a washroom, while the groom and groomsmen can get ready in separate rooms downstairs. Having both sides of the wedding party in the same building makes coordination easier and keeps the timeline running smoothly.
In our experience, the staff have always been friendly, organized, and easy to work with. We’ve also worked alongside planners here, including Perfect Planners, and the coordination between venue and vendors made the day run smoothly.

From a wedding photographer’s perspective, this venue offers a beautiful mix of backdrops:
Ceremony Lawn and Bluffs
The ceremony area overlooking the lake is the most recognizable feature of the venue. The open sky and expansive views create a dramatic yet romantic setting.
Front Lawn and Grounds
Most portraits often take place on the lawn in front of the clubhouse, where the landscape opens toward the lake and the light is soft and flattering.
Pathways to the Clubhouse
The paths leading toward the building create natural, relaxed portrait opportunities and work beautifully for candid moments.
Inside the Clubhouse
Indoor spaces are elegant and bright, providing excellent backup locations and timeless portrait options.
Sunset Locations
One interesting detail about Toronto Hunt Club is that some of the best sunset light appears away from the lake, toward the trees. This softer directional light creates warm, flattering portraits.
Because the venue sits on the bluffs, it can sometimes be windy, which is something we always plan for when scheduling portraits or styling veils and dresses.

Toronto Hunt Club is a private venue, and weddings are typically available only to members or through referral from a member. If you’re considering this venue, it’s best to confirm the requirements early in your planning so there are no surprises later.
Because the venue sits on the Scarborough Bluffs, there’s often a breeze, especially later in the day. Hairstyles, veils, ceremony setups, and drone photos should be planned with this in mind.
One of the advantages of this venue is the size and elegance of the indoor spaces. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, ceremonies can be moved inside to a bright, spacious area with a high ceiling and fireplace that still photographs beautifully and never feels like a compromise.
In late spring and early summer, there can sometimes be small flies or midges near the water and lawn areas. It’s worth asking the venue coordinator about current conditions and timing when planning your ceremony or portraits.
If the reception room feels too small for your guest count or you prefer a different aesthetic, the Toronto Hunt Club may allow couples to bring in a tent on the grounds. This can create a completely different reception atmosphere while still keeping everything on-site.
Sunset portraits here are always worth it. Interestingly, some of the best light appears away from the lake, toward the trees, creating warm and flattering portraits.
